Full Approval
WESTON EARNS NATIONAL REACCREDITATION WITH DETC

Fort Collins, Colorado – February 11, 2010
– At its January 16th meeting, the Accrediting Commission of the Distance Education and Training Council (DETC), the nation's premier accrediting association for distance learning institutions, voted to extend reaccreditation to all courses and degree programs offered by the schools of Weston Distance Learning Inc. Those schools are At-Home Professions, McKinley College and U.S. Career Institute. Weston earned reaccreditation with no restrictions on its approval.

This marks the first time that Weston has sought DETC reaccreditation. Weston received its initial DETC accreditation in 2004. Under DETC policy, each accredited institution must be completely reevaluated not less than every five years. This is one of the most rigorous evaluation models currently in use in American higher education.

Weston was reaccredited after an exhaustive evaluation of the company by the DETC. Weston staff spent a year preparing and submitting required materials, after which the DETC reviewed the materials over the course of two months. In this process, all aspects of Weston were thoroughly inspected by peer-group evaluators and independent curriculum experts.

The DETC Accrediting Commission has been listed by the U.S. Department of Education as a nationally recognized accrediting agency since 1959. DETC is also a recognized member of the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).

“Our smooth passage through reaccreditation was no accident,” says Ann Rohr, Weston’s president. “DETC accreditation is a badge of quality that we’ve worked hard to gain and keep. Through consistent quality-assurance measures and self-checks, everyone at Weston strives to uphold standards of excellence in all company operations.”

Founded in 1981, Weston Distance Learning Inc. is based in Fort Collins, Colorado. Cumulatively, its three schools (At-Home Professions, McKinley College and U.S. Career Institute) offer courses and degree programs that prepare graduates to work in more than 25 diverse fields. These fields include medical billing, medical coding, medical transcription, legal transcription, fitness/nutrition training, fashion merchandising, health information technology, wedding and event planning, office administration, dental assistance, medical assistance, business management, accounting, entrepreneurship and e-commerce. Several Weston courses are offered completely online. Weston’s state approval is issued by the Colorado Department of Education’s Division of Private Occupational Schools. Each course and degree program is approved for GI Bill, VA and DANTES military education benefits. To learn more about Weston, visit http://www.westondistancelearning.com/.
